Congrats! You’ve Failed. Now, get back up & fail again.
“Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.”
– Samuel Beckett
Wow! you’ve made it this far. Doesn’t it feel like January & February just zipped right past? Hopefully, you’ve tackled that BIG GOALS list for 2019 with a sense of zeal like never before! But chances are, if you’re like me (or any other human, for that matter), you’ve probably fallen off that horse at least once… and you still have how many more days left this year?!?!
Sure, you didn’t make it to the gym that one day when you’d hope to go every day that week. Yes, you secretly devoured that [INSERT FAVORITE SWEET TREAT, e.g. Chocolate, Ice Cream, etc...] when you were “supposed” to be on a new diet. And, by golly, there’s definitely a list of people you’ve been trying to get back in touch with -- people you know, if you could only unlock their networks, you’d find your next big client or referral partner!
But you didn’t. You pushed it off. You got distracted. That Snickers bar came into your life on the worst (or best) day ever, and how could you resist! And, at the end of the day, you just didn’t meet that commitment because “more important things” got “in the way.”
And now, how do you feel?
Defeated. Frustrated. Annoyed. Resentful. Angry. At yourself. At others. And doesn’t it just suck!
Well, in case this feels a bit like your 2019 thus far, I’m here to tell you this:
Congratulations! You are succeeding.
“Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.”
– Robert F. Kennedy
How do I know? For starters, you’re reading this blog article. You found this website, which means you’re searching for answers (or at least for someone else to do your bookkeeping). If you’ve been through a seriously rough patch, you at least recognize that it could be worse… and at least you’re still alive. And here you are again, come back for more!
All I can say is this: keep going.
“Life is a journey, not a destination.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
So, make that journey as the best you you can be, ‘failing better’ one day at a time.
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
– Thomas A. Edison
Motivation quotes, reminding you that failure is a part of the journey, not helping? Perhaps the encouraging voice of others may.
So, here’s another PRO TIP for you:
If you’re an entrepreneur, you’ve probably heard this quote before:
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
― Jim Rohn
What I recommend is this: The next time you’re feeling low & need a motivational kick-in-the-butt, download an audiobook or a podcast from one of these inspiring individuals and take a 20-minute walk.
Not only will you get your blood flowing, which will improve cognitive function and keep your heart healthy, but you’ll also gain a bit of wisdom to boost you through the day.
Now, stop ‘Waiting for Godot’ and get back to work.
